HISTORY;;

A long time ago, in a time Colleen can barely remember, it was bright snowy mornings, afternoons spent training and flying her pegasus, Vandene, and staying up late, cuddled in her brother's bed, telling stories of the dark north. Those memories are so far flown, they may as well never have happened, if it weren't for the ache and longing they still leave in her heart.

The tension began when she turned seven, threats nnd skirmishs followed, and then, finally, battles erupted. Her parents had made enemies, and those enemies had come collecting their due, determined to remove House Forna from Korin's records. A year and a half of battle, and then, in a fresh Korin spring, Colleen's parents were killed befire her brother's eyes, and her House brought down.

Forna's enemies were vicious and aboslute, and wanted no heirs to the House surviving. Ten year old Rory with his dragon and Colleen with her pegasus fled, barely managing to escape, and scarce able to remain ahead of their pursuers. Somehow they managed, year after year, their luck holding out against all odds as they took shelter with any they could find, both lowborn and highborn, with lies of being lost children, hiding from prying eyes, and then, more often then not, fleeing into the night when they realized how close their tireless pursuers were.

The constant flight made Colleen lost. It made Rory hard. The combined effect of running for his life and seeing his parents meet their bloody deaths turned him into a heartless shell of the happy boy he had been. To bring them money, he had Vandene sold, yet refused to part with his dragon. He became harsh and demanding, pushing Colleen to comform to his will. While at times he once again became the sweet brother she remembered, it was rare, and she learned to fear him while never forgetting how to love him.

A year ago, Rory noted how men began to stop a stare at his younger sister, and came upon an idea. He approached the Lord of Aartyn, the area they were staying in, after examining his reputation closely, and, without a second thought, offered his sister as a concubine to him in exchange for being adopted and protected under Aartyn's banner.

Now, while her brother eats and sleeps and enjoys all the comforts of a noble heir once more, Colleen is thier "benefactor"'s bedwarmer. Their enemies are warily prowling around the edges, fearing that Rory will use this oppurtunity to attempt to reclaim the lands that once belonged to his parents, but for now, they lay low, fearing the losses a possible war with Aartyn could cause.



PERSONALITY;;

Despite the incredibly hard life and situations she's gone through, Colleen has remained kind and gentle, soft-spoken and mild. While life pushes her around, and hard, she sways in the winds that it sends her, but is never fully blown over, no matter how dark things seem.

Despite fearing her older brother, she can never bring herself to hate him, and hates it when anyone criticizes his methods. She knows that somewhere, under all of the hard cruelty this life has brought him, he's the same boy who helped her steal imported fruit from the kitchen to eat in the haylofts. Instead of spiting him, she's desperate for his approval, so while she hates the man twice her age who shares her bed, she does her best for the situation so that Rory will be able to enjoy what the only thing she could offer him has brought him.

Rory paints a rosy view of their family, and thus, regardly of whatever the truth of the situation is, Colleen believes that the enemies of her family are in the wrong, as she's never been given a reason to believe they could be anything but. She barely remembers her parents, as they were distant and always busy, but she imagines them being kind, and loving.

She imagines many things. Colleen has a difficult facing reality, and often creates fantasy worlds for herself to make things seem a bit less dark, and convinces herself of things she knows aren't true, but make her happier. Part of her quiet optimism about the future of her life, her brother, and House Forna is simply her nature, but a good part is her surrounding her present with a dreamy haze in order to focus on a wishful, impossible future. For this reason, Colleen often seems somewhat detached, if always innocent and kind.

One thing drives her from day to day, to find that time once again, of bright snowy mornings, pegasus feathers, and Rory smiling. To acheive that, she pushes herself on, day after day, and ignores the world around her to keep her standing steady.

Colleen has long, soft pale pink-brown hair, and brown eyes. She's of average height and a little thin. She's quite a beauty, which has worked for her and Rory's advantage even before their current situation.
